How it all began
A young man was standing at a bus stop, waiting for a train to the station, on a never-ending commute, dressed in a cheap shiny suit, on a grey soul-less morning and I drove past him and I felt for him and wondered about his life and if he had dreams of something else. I wrote a song for him and then the story of Living the Dream emerged from this.
John and I have been writing and playing music together for a long time but this was a new direction. As the story and the songs emerged, we built a little studio (The Dreamshack) and started to make progress.
Last summer we condensed the story into a 1 hour showcase and performed this at The Guildford and Camden Fringe Festivals. This was a great experience and we are now in the process of editing the full show, taking on board what we have learnt from our fringe showcases.
Along the way, we reached out to Jessica Rickson - the Producer at Elaine Paige on Sunday. She liked the story of Living the dream and ran a short feature of our musical and played one of our songs the day before our first showcase. This was a great boost.
